Peony Joker

Back again! A fragrant 2004 Landis/Rogers 6” double, it opens deep pink and matures to white with pink picotee edges. Our beautiful, prized display and cut flower Herbaceous Peonies have been divided and nursery-grown in the Netherlands for two years prior to export. Each rootstock has varying amounts of roots, and three to five eyes for optimum flower production the first spring (some rootstocks may be trimmed of old wood to allow new root growth). Mid. Bloom time in horticultural zone 5: May/June. Prepare the planting site by cultivating 2’ wide by 1.5’ deep holes, 3’ to 4’ apart. Fill each hole with 1’ of good loam. Plant each rootstock so that the crown is just 2” below the soil level with the eyes, or sprouts, pointing up. Do not plant them any deeper as it could inhibit flower production. If they are not planted to the proper depth, the plant may not flower. Carefully shovel loose soil around the rootstock. Do not apply any soil amendments to the Peony crown area after planting (absolutely no manure of any kind: it can cause crown rot). HZ: 4-8. Height: 32”. 3’ wide.

  • Miscellaneous Narcissi
Not to be overlooked, these varieties are in their own little group because they don't quite fit into any of the R.H.S. divisions.

All Narcissi tolerate a wide range of sunlight from full sun to semi-shade. Varieties with pink cups should be grown in areas of filtered sunlight. Narcissi prefer well-draining soil, hate to get wet feet and love to be fed with a 4-10-6 or 5-10-5 granular organic flower bulb fertilizer three times a year. Allow the foliage to thrive and die back naturally without braiding or premature removal. Bulb size: 12/14 cm, unless otherwise noted. Bloom time in a horticultural zone 5: March/April. Plant 6" deep and 6" apart. Horticultural zones 5-8. Height: 6" to 14", depending upon variety. Narcissus classification: Royal Horticultural Society Division 12.
